Bellevue 2044 - Placemaking
Bellevue is a city of neighborhoods. Throughout the city people can find a variety of places from quiet and isolated residential neighborhoods to vibrant and active mixed use neighborhoods. No matter the neighborhood, an important need is a commercial center where people can grab a cup of coffee with a friend, run a quick errand, have dinner with the family, or gather together for community celebrations.
During Phase 1, the planning team heard from the community a strong desire to support small, locally owned business, increase the ability to walk and bike to places close to home, and create more community gathering spaces.
The planning process gives us a great opportunity to think about placemaking. How do we want our existing neighborhood centers to look, feel & function in the future and where are there opportunities for creating new neighborhood centers.
DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT READY FOR REVIEW
On Thursday, April 27 the city released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update. Community members and organizations with an interest in the future growth of Bellevue can now comment on the DEIS until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 12. A vibrant city is made up of a variety of unique neighborhood places and spaces that give them their special vibe. A neighborhood place could be as small as a single corner café where you meet a friend for coffee or could be a more bustling shopping center with a grocery store, shops, and restaurants.

Potentially New Neighborhood Centers
One comment the planning team hears often is that people would like more places to gather, meet friends, celebrate, and bridge cultures. A vibrant city is made up of a variety of these kinds of unique neighborhood places and spaces that help give a neighborhood its special character or identity. A neighborhood center could be as small as a single corner café where you meet a friend for coffee or could a more bustling "main street" with a local store, shops, and restaurants, or a bustling shopping center with a large grocery store, bigger chains, mixed in with local retail.
On this map we want you to tell us about places that could be potentially new neighborhood centers.
