In this section you can find information about proposed changes to the Housing, Human Services, Neighborhoods, and Community Engagement section
Addressing the need for housing that is attainable for people of all income levels and meets the needs of people at all stages of life is a key focus area for this update. Housing choice and housing affordability is a top issue for Bellevue residents. People have also expressed an interest in neighborhoods that offer a variety of housing types, allow people to walk to meet a friend or run an errand, support social connection, and enhance sustainability.
Equity is another key issue area for this update. Ensuring that Bellevue can continue to be a place of opportunity where people from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds can thrive is something people have said they care about.
Proposed changes in these elements could include:
More opportunity to create different types of housing.
The opportunity to emphasize equity and address past harms.
Support for more homeownership opportunities
Ensuring all community members have equitable access to services.
Policies to address the underlying systemic inequities that contribute to the need for services.

You are invited to provide feedback on draft policy moves for the Housing, Community Engagement, Neighborhoods, and Human Services elements below.

Would like more apartments next to light rail stations and allowing middle housing in single family neighborhoods.
Allow more smaller retail/commercial such as coffee shops would be nice as well.

Please remember you represent Bellevue residents, all of them. That is really your job. You should not represent ideologies or agendas of any other groups. Bellevue attracted many of its residents because of what has been created by doing that in the past. Much of what Bellevue is is well worth preserving, contrary to what some particularly vocal small groups would have you believe. Preserve our quality of life, the Bellevue pragmatism and fiscal responsibility, and the emphasis on safety. Be fair to all our residents, and don't play zero sum games to the detriment of less vocal or less favored groups of citizens. Always investigate and consider unintended consequences before making changes, especially if your citizens bring that information to you. Think with us, not for us. If you substantively ignore us, we will regretfully disengage and you will lose needed legitimacy.

No multi-family apartments (4-plexes, six-plexes) DADU's in Single-family neighborhoods. Preserve landmark and mature tree canopies. Stop Bellevue from becoming another Seattle. Preserve the character and quality of life in Bellevue's neighborhoods. Prioritize Bellevue residents, those of us who have invested in our communities. Support funding the police and its crisis management programs. Require treatment for fentanyl addiction. There are more people dying from this crisis.

Please do not destroy our beautiful neighborhoods. Plus keep our city SAFE. No catch & release, no gangs (Yes there are some) no Illegals. & a strong police force. Bellevue should NEVER be a sanctuary city. Protect we legal hard-working law-abiding taxpayers & not the law breakers.
