Bellevue 2044 - Economic & Cultural Vitality
Thank you to the over 7000 individuals who participated in the update to the Bellevue 2044 Comprehensive Plan. The updated plan was adopted by City Council in October of 2024. You can read the plan and past documents at www.bellevuewa.gov/comprehensive-plan.
In this section you can find information about proposed changes to the Economic Development and Urban Design & the Arts chapters.
Bellevue has long been known as a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation; this has helped Bellevue thrive and become a global leader in many sectors. As the city has grown, so has its potential as a hub for arts, culture and unique public spaces. Coming investments in the Grand Connection, the Eastrail multi-use trail, and the BelRed arts district promise to bring more excitement and interest.
Throughout the planning process community members have expressed strong interest in seeing more vibrant Neighborhood Centers that support small, local business, third places, and social connection.
Updates to the Comprehensive Plan could all support these goals by:
- Increased support for activation in the BelRed Arts District.
- Encouraging more walkable, compact Neighborhood Centers that allow for a mix of uses.
- Support for more geographically focused urban design policies.
